As she announces her debut UK acting role in ‘Father Dear’ at Fireworks Factory, Woolwich Works in London from June 13-14th. Nigerian actress, model, and philanthropist Idia Aisien states it is now more important than ever in this changing world to also change Western perceptions of the African continent. For a number of years since launching her ‘Idia Project’ [https://theidiaproject.com/ ] Idia has made it her key mission to focus on the positives of Reclaiming African Narratives.
Founded to celebrate, educate, and empower, The IDIA Project is a storytelling initiative that shines a light on Africa’s cultural heritage, overlooked contributions, and future potential. Through curated content, campaigns, and community-driven projects, the platform is dedicated to reshaping how Africa is seen—by Africans and the world. From spotlighting untold historical stories to amplifying young African voices, The IDIA Project is more than a platform—it’s a movement. Rooted in pride and purpose, it aims to inspire new generations to embrace their identity, challenge stereotypes, and celebrate their roots.
Having worked with global fashion and beauty brands and earned praise for her charisma, talent, and intelligence, Idia represents a new era of African storytelling—authentic, powerful, and unapologetically bold. Her work in film and television, as well as her presence in media, consistently highlights her passion for redefining narratives around African identity and womanhood.
As Idia explains, “Africa has always had powerful stories—rich, layered, and full of resilience—but for too long, they’ve been told through someone else’s lens. With The IDIA Project and now through my role in ‘Dear Father’, I’m committed to helping rewrite that narrative, to show the strength and beauty of who we are. It’s about time the world saw us as we truly are—complex, bold, and full of potential.”
In 2020, Idia made her film debut in the remake of the Nollywood (Nigeria’s Hollywood) classic Nneka the Pretty Serpent, earning critical acclaim for her performance. Building on this success, she is set to make her stage debut in June 2025 in London, co-starring in the powerful play “Dear Father” alongside veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Kunle Remi and Tobi Bakre. The production delves into themes of love, sacrifice, and the pivotal role of fathers in their daughters’ lives, set against the backdrop of rising femicide rates in the UK. Idia has quickly risen as one of the most dynamic and influential voices of her generation!
