On November 16, 2018, almost 150 people celebrated the positive impact of the programs created by the Women’s Empowerment Institute (WEI). WEI, founded by woman of color and mother of four Gina Avila, is a non-profit that offers young girls and women resources and networking opportunities that empower them to become self-sufficient through personal development and job skills training. The group meets the last Friday of every month to learn new skills, hear inspiring speakers, and network.
The first inaugural WEI Gala was held at the Ritz Carlton in White Plains, New York, in the Kanopi space, adorned with chandeliers and overlooking the stunning views of the Hudson River. As the sun set, constituents listened to the stories of the young girls and women who have experienced transformation due to the resources provided by WEI.
