In a powerful display of solidarity and action, Homeless Children’s Awareness Month began with an inspiring Stand-Up Demonstration and Press Conference, uniting leaders and community members in the fight to support children experiencing 
homelessness in Allegheny County. This remarkable event, held on Tuesday, emphasized the collective commitment to make a real difference for nearly 3,500 young individuals facing housing instability in our region.
Under the leadership of Ardana ‘AJ’ Jefferson, CEO of the Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF), the gathering brought together influential figures such as Congresswoman Summer Lee, Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato, Mayor Ed Gainey, and HCEF Collegiate Advocacy Committee founding member Jada Guiste. More than 150 enthusiastic supporters joined them, raising their voices for systemic change and sustainable solutions to the root causes of homelessness.
AJ Jefferson expressed her gratitude to the attendees, acknowledging that the energy and commitment displayed at the event are pivotal to advancing HCEF’s mission. This initiative isn’t just about immediate relief—it’s about advocating for comprehensive policies and funding that address the underlying issues contributing to youth homelessness.
