You know that moment when you decide you’re done waiting for someone to save you—and instead, you become your own savior? That was me.

I was already a mom of five, hustling hard, but my income didn’t match the effort I was putting in. So, like many entrepreneurs, I sought out mentors and coaches, and grew my business beyond what I thought possible. For years, my revenue soared. I got to be a full-time mom, working when I wanted, making a generous income—sometimes in my sleep. We moved into our dream lake house, my husband’s land development business was booming, and we decided to grow our family again. Life felt full, abundant, and aligned.

Then the house of cards began to fall. My mom—my best friend—was diagnosed with a cancer all throughout her lungs and bones, which had metastasized from her breast and passed away. My husband’s projects hit major turbulence, and financial insecurity followed. I had two miscarriages, lost my grandmother, and my energy for business really started to dwindle. My income reflected that loss of momentum, and I found myself questioning everything. Was this divine intervention, self-sabotage, something I had unknowingly manifested – or … me leaning into a deeper call?

Either way – what I had the energy for was to simply be. I shifted into my feminine energy—focused on presence, family, and calling in only the clients I felt aligned with. And even though I still had a multiple six-figure income working with incredible people, it was a far cry from the thriving business and team I had built before—and now, with eight in our family, soon to be nine, it didn’t feel like enough.

Still, something deeper was stirring in me, and I allowed myself to start fresh.

In those low moments, I learned humbling lessons that I share in my chapter of my upcoming book with 14 other authors, Course Corrected, which is being sold with all proceeds going to the incredible nonprofit, Treasure House Fashions, which serves over 60 agencies helping women in time of hardship and transition to feel fully loved as they’re provided with the ability to have new wardrobes in times when they may have nothing. Sally Power, the founder of Treasure House Fashions, is also one of the authors featured in the book with her own incredible story of hardship turned into purpose.

During my own times of trouble, what helped me most were stories—stories of successful people who went through deep failure and loss, only to rise again, stronger and more aligned. I trained my brain to recognize those stories as proof that transformation was possible. When my mind spiraled, I’d tell it: Thank you for trying to protect me, but here are other, beautiful possibilities that could unfold from this.

So, when Aurora Corialis Publishing approached me to co-create this book, it only made sense. A group of women came together to share stories of heartbreak transformed into purpose—each of us divinely course-corrected. May the stories in this book remind you that what’s happening to you may actually be happening for you.

I remember standing on my back deck, overlooking the lake, shouting, “God, why are you putting me through this?!” And I swear I heard the answer in my soul: “My daughter, don’t you know this is all for you?” In that moment, I remembered—I’ve always been provided for, even through the darkest times.

May this book remind you that you are, too. You can order your copy of Course Corrected from Amazon or Barnes and Noble in September of 2025.
