Meet Dr. Emily Letran, who is living proof that success can come from being fully focused and consistent with our goals, no matter the barriers that stand before us. Letran has been serving in the field of dentistry for more than 30 years and has a great approach to 
her profession. Patients are not always comfortable going to the dentist and Letran is very aware of that. However, she brings as much fun to the experience as possible. Letran states, “I have a sarcastic sense of humor. I like to make patients laugh. They do not expect to laugh in a dentist chair, but we have fun during appointments.” A big part of what makes Letran so successful both in and out of her dental practice – whether she is on a stage keynoting or having a patient open up to say, “ah” in her dental chair – are her intelligent wit and light hearted ways.
Broken Barrier to Freedom
Letran is a mentor for many. Her inspiring backstory is a driving force behind how she impacts so many today. Letran lived through Communist rule in Vietnam as a child, she traveled with her aunt to a refugee camp in Malaysia, and she witnessed lives of people who had next to nothing. Through these challenges, Letran found the determination to choose to spend sleepless nights learning the English language as they were on their way to America, with “hope and faith” as her mantra. Even then, Letran recognized the value in education, even when she had to fund the endeavor herself. She went on to UCLA Dental school and completed a successful four years, and gained experience building, selling, and buying dental practices.

Clarity, urgency, and accountability are three components that Letran promotes in her high-performance coaching and consulting with dentists. Letran knows what an effort it takes to lead a sustainable practice and shares her knowledge with those who seek her services when they are accepted into her coaching program. Letran is known as, “The best mom in the world.” This is a title that she embraces with grace and in a lighthearted way. It is important to take into consideration that we all have our own strengths and weaknesses in various areas, and that in order to bring about desired results we need to pour into ourselves in ways that work for us. Letran encourages this by explaining she follows a regimen that is, “centered around a work/life balance.”

In addition to her extensive resume of impressive successful achievements, Letran has 
also found her place in the world of writing, speaking, and acting. Along with becoming an accomplished author by publishing 16 books, Letran has recently been a part of a movie as she was a Co-Executive Producer and a cast member in a Vietnamese movie called “A Fragile Flower.”
