Have you always desired to create your own business, but fear has blocked you? So, you end up settling for a job that provides security but doesn’t really light you up?

I know it’s quite bold to talk about this whole area in these times when we are told it’s so uncertain and the risks of creating a business might outweigh the potential gains.

A solution to this might be keeping the job that pays the bills, while creating your ‘side hustle’ which you operate in your free time, alongside your main job.

In my case, when I listened within just over 15 years ago, I wanted to go ‘all in’ and face the fears that emerged, so I chose to put all my energies initially into creating a free, holistic, lifestyle magazine from scratch. And it made me feel alive as I was being the version of me, I aspired to be.

Sometimes you don’t realize you can do something until you actually take the steps and do it!

When I launched the magazine, the times were just as precarious as they are now with the start of the GFC and a lot of wild weather events unfolding in Australia. Although, when I tuned in, I felt an expansive energy when I thought about the possibilities of what could be created in terms of having a forum for people to share their expertise and uniqueness.  I also realized in a short amount of time, the magazine gave people hope and it allowed me the freedom to express and create in ways I had never known before.

One thing that I did do that others may not desire to do; was I was prepared to make sacrifices and live as a minimalist as the magazine was getting off the ground in those early years. Thankfully, all the sacrifices eventually paid off, and the magazine has continued to grow and expand interstate and overseas.

Yes, it does take courage to follow your heart and inner guidance and keep taking steps forward in order to keep a business running. However, it’s one of the greatest opportunities for personal growth and a rich soulful fulfillment in creating in ways that feel authentic to you.

With work taking up a large percentage of each day, it’s good to ask yourself some questions. What lights me up? Is now the time to start creating something new? What unique contribution can I make? What supports and resources do I need to put in place to allow me to create this?

There is no right and wrong when it comes to your work life creations, as you take your energy wherever you go and can have an impact wherever you go, whatever you do.

I am glad I took the leap and I am proud to say my Holistic Bliss Magazine just turned 15 and we have been downloaded in 62 countries. www.holisticblissmagazine.com
