We often get asked:

What is Babesburgh?

The quick answer is that we are a women-focused events organization with an  emphasis on hosting fun events and unique experiences and where are all welcome!

But, let’s go a little deeper.

Why did we start Babesburgh?

In 2023, our founder Cat Bruno experienced a shake-up to her personal and  professional life, made worse because the two had been connected for years. What helped her navigate these new waters was a great circle of female friends and family. It  was only with their support and assistance that she was able to journey down a new  path and start Babesburgh.

How does Babesburgh help women?

We create spaces and events for women to enjoy themselves, meet new people, and  celebrate each other and sisterhood! After enlisting the help of her sister Shelley, the  two jumped in, nervous and a bit afraid, but ready to have some fun. Babesburgh is  less than a year old – and we are still growing and improving. Have an idea for a cool  event? Send us an email or DM! We love to brainstorm with other women and work on  ways to support and celebrate each other.

What kind of events does Babesburgh offer?

A pretty eclectic variety – from self defense workshops to jewelry making classes.  Meditation and yoga sessions, bingo dance parties, shopping crawls to women-owned  boutiques, lip balm making workshops, spa nights, clothing and accessories swaps,  and more.

What event is coming up next?

Our biggest event yet – the Babesburgh Bash at Allegheny Landing Park on  Pittsburgh’s North Shore – on June 29, 2024 from 3pm – 8pm.

The festival offers a fantastic variety of services:

  • Brew Garden: local brews: wine, spirits, and beer samples and a free souvenir taster  glass
  • Artist Alley: art demos and hands-on activities
  • Wellness Circle: health & wellness exhibits
  • Shopping Lane: a woman-owned market and a farmers market
  • Fitness Zone: fitness classes
  • On Stage: female musicians and deejays

After a decade as a creative writer with a focus on crafting interesting and dynamic female characters, Cat Bruno stepped slightly off the path – with her usual whimsical clumsiness – into event communications and coordination. After several years with Barrel & Flow Fest, she returned to what she loved most: celebrating and empowering women. Now she leads Babesburgh, a spunky women-focused organization that hosts fun events and unique experiences around Pittsburgh. Where once she told stories of badass women, now she delights in listening to the stories from the badass women she meets. Sometimes, reality is better than fiction.
