Welcome to the new “normal.” Who would have thought that our new normal would come with such a high level of uncertainty? Despite these crazy times, the one thing that has remained constant is the need for innovation, creativity and motivation, to maintain a happy and healthy life.
So how does one remain motivated in such uncertain times? I personally believe that motivation, even in such a tenuous environment, lies within establishing healthy habits and surrounding yourself with positive, uplifting energy.
Here are a few ways to guarantee the best chances at staying motivated each and every day:
- Create a morning ritual that includes some things you truly love.
This can be a 30-minute date with yourself, a hot cup of coffee and your favorite book/magazine. Or my favorite morning ritual of meditating for 15-20 minutes followed by journaling 2-3 things that I am grateful for.
An important part of your daily routine can include some self-pampering – with your hairstyle! It’s more crucial than you might think. It almost doesn’t matter how we feel; if we like what our hair looks like in the mirror, we almost always will feel uplifted! And it’s a smart idea to work with top quality haircare products: check out Marco Collagen Color HairCare at marcopelusi.com.
- Dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to exercising your body.
It doesn’t matter if you are stretching, walking or running sprints. Exercising at least 20-30 minutes daily has proven to increase the level of endorphins your body. Endorphins are responsible for elevating your mood and alleviating pain. They also reduce the level of stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. Your mental and physical health are worth at least 30 minutes a day!
- Feed your mind with knowledge and optimism.
While you’re exercising, or taking your lunch break, fill your brain with something that will help to motivate and energize your soul. There are literally thousands of Ted Talks, self-help books, blogs, podcasts and YouTube videos that are specifically designed to impart wisdom from inspirational teachers and seasoned specialists. Search up a few topics that are of interest to you and receive a mid-day jolt of motivation!
Attend special interest events in person.
Take advantage of special events that you can attend in person. Attending a physical event where you can network and socialize will really add a spring in your step for the following days and weeks. Or take an in-person class to further refine your skills in a certain area; perhaps it’s a hobby that you’d like to learn more about!
If you review the above recommendations, you will recognize the common theme of self-care. The more you take quality time to care for the health of your mind and body (and hair!), the easier it will be for you to get motivated (and stay motivated) to achieve your goals. A happy, healthy “you” is a much more productive “you.”
